Hi everyone, this is Susan
This week’s animal totem is the Armadillo which represents Self Protection, Setting Boundaries.
Armadillo’s skin is a tough armor on his back side with a soft underbelly. When threatened he can roll up in a ball to protect himself. Armadillo is also an excellent digger and is much attuned to his environment.
Armadillo’s medicine/message is to set you boundaries but to also show vulnerability. Boundaries are set so that harmful/hurtful words or actions just roll off your back so to speak. They are a reflection of what you are and what your will is to other people on an energetic level. How you react has everything to do with your ability to remain objective. Armadillo does not stay wrapped in a ball. He does show his softer underbelly. In order to enjoy the gifts you desire, you must be willing to be vulnerable.
Are you setting boundaries? Are you using them to over-protect yourself? Are you not using them enough? Your armor can be a protection or it can be a jail. Your fears will be your warden. Armadillo is a digger which is teaching you to dig until you get to the root of your fears. Releasing your fears will help you in becoming vulnerable. Being vulnerable does not mean you allow others to walk all over you, it means you are willing to open up, allow people in, show your emotions. What is Armadillo trying to tell you?

The Tarot Eteilla - The First occult deck published in the 18th Century by Aliette,of France (he reversed his name coz it looked heaps cooler) Eteillia taught tarot, read and wrote about tarot from his salon which is French for what was probably a draughty studio.
The deck is a little odd, it is missing some trumps you may be used to but others are in their place (Le Peuple/Prudence - The People instead of Temperance, The Plants- instead of The Moon etc). Some of the meanings on the small cards are different too.
The images are lovely and antique and the meanings are in French on the borders. I love this deck for when I get reading fatigue from my other main decks - the colours and pictures are odd, evocative and connects to the earliest history of tarot in the modern age.
Etellia’s ‘Universe’ Trump - The 4 Quadrupeds.
The 4 Cardinal elements -
- Lion - Fire,
- Horse - Air
- Cow - Water
- Elephant - Earth
Indicates travel, the 4 corners of the Earth and other 4 fold ways of dividing information about the world. The serpent is the World Serpent but also the Eden Serpent - who brought about the limits of present material existence from a ‘fallen’ Garden of Paradise. This is Man cast out into the World and can also represent exile, travelling from place to place and wandering. The story of exile from Eden and also the naming of the animals.
